A Heavenly Reunion

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house ae many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.”  (John 14:1-4)

For many folks who attend reunions there can be a mixed bag of emotions. The two most common reunions are family reunions and class reunions. Each of these reunions brings out different feelings, some good and some bad. There is a reunion that Jesus has prepared for His chosen ones known as His bride, and this reunion will be like none other and the most joyous that will have ever been. Our focus passage speaks of a reunion that will be put on by Jesus Christ and this will take place after He comes to take His bride home. Consider Matthew24:31: “And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to this heavenly reunion! First of all, we will be in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, face to face, what a thing to look forward to. There will be a heavenly feast in heaven with the Father, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and all that are called to this reunion (Luke 14:12-24). So, not only will we be with God we will reunite with our loved ones who have gone before us that were true believers. You see this reunion is for all those who have called on the Lord Jesus as their Savior. All are invited, sadly, many choose not to except the invitation. There will be some there that we may have never expected and even some won’t be in attendance that we believed would be.

Some are asking when will this reunion take place? Jesus tells us that only the Father knows the time when this great reunion will take place. Matthew 24:36: “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but only My Father only.” He continues in that passage to describe what the world will look like shortly before the reunion takes place, something that seems that we are quickly approaching. At the end of that passage in verse 44 He gives a warning to us, “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect”.

As believers we should be readily about preparing for this most joyous reunion. The best way to prepare is to be about His business obeying His commands, especially the new one He gave to believers in John 13:34-35. “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Have you accepted your invitation to this great reunion? You can’t say you haven’t received one, because all are invited! It’s your choice if you want to attend. Bear in mind this will be the most important decision in your life, your eternity depends on it. Accept the gift of God given to us through His Son Jesus who died for our sins. Repent of your sins, receive His forgiveness, and He puts your name in the Book of Life which assures your place is reserved for this great reunion in heaven.
